Mango visits Flagstaff!

This is a quick blog to share some moments of Mango's first visit to Flagstaff. Thanks for coming Chelsea! We know it wasn't easy with a two-year-old!!

Saturday arrival!

All parties got up at 4:45 am. Chelsea and Mango flew from Denver to Phoenix, and Ellen and I drove down to pick them up for an 8:00 am arrival. Upon arrival at our home, he did a quick investigation of the living room area before discovering the door to our magical backyard.

The junior hydrologist quickly found the rainwater barrel, hose, spigot, watering cans and buckets and was soon at work.

Having a snack and wondering whats inside the mysterious glass door on the round, tubular building.

Much time was spent in the hammock looking for birds and listening for hummingbirds. Thanks for that awareness, Auntie Vonn!

Sunday

Sunday morning found us at the Flagstaff Athletic Club outdoor pool. After signing in and running around the basketball court for a few minutes and chasing a nice lady running laps, we headed to the pool.

Once home, Chelsea put him down for a nap. Chels and Ellen then headed off for some mother/daughter time at Goodwill. Once the little guy woke up it was time to water the front yard. The stool in his hand? He LOVED it and drug it ALL over the house. Once outside he discovered the hose water gun and played with that the whole time I bucket watered the yard.

Barista training. To the left he is helping to hand grind coffee in an old grinder Ellen found and refurbished. It's slow going but works really well!

Monday

Monday was a big day. We started at the Kachina Wetlands looking for birds. We found lots of baby ducklings, swallows, great blue herons, and even an osprey. See how there's a watering can in the left picture but not in the right? Yeah, it didn't survive the walk. Once a rock wound up in it and got shaken around, it began to disintegrate. Then, a good smash on the ground ended its life...lol. It had a good life. We have pictures of Munch using it at this age!

We then went to the local fire station where the three guys were GREAT! They even shot the water canon off the top of the truck for him. I had never seen him literally jump up and down with such joy and excitement.

We then went downtown to the train station and waited for a train. It was very scary and also SO exciting! He got a little train at the visitor station and could NOT be separated from it.

Tuesday

Tuesday found us driving back to Phoenix and dropping them off at the airport. It was such and great trip and we are looking forward to many more.
