Downtown Flagstaff
Early this month we stopped and walked around downtown for the first time in a LONG time. We had just come from a Dark Sky exhibition at Coconino Center for the arts. I found some new murals among other fun things.
My Birthday Week
Sunday found us at our first ever Pickn' in the Pines Bluegrass festival just up the road at Fort Tuthill County Park. They were celebrating their 20th year.
Enjoying music with Olga and Stephanos.
Tuesday
We celebrated my birthday on Tuesday the 22nd in Cottonwood with some biking in Dead Horse State Park (where we picked up an annual pass), some thrifting in Cottonwood and Sedona, where we found this food truck?, and dinner at an Indian Restaurant in Sedona near the Goodwill.
Wednesday
Monsoons were still in full swing on my birthday. Ellen was in Phoenix at an appointment.
Saturday we headed to the Grand Canyon, and my Forever Senior National Park Pass
Navajo Tribal Park
I got my Geezer Pass on Saturday!!!
Shooting with my phone through a binocular and what it looks like without.
One of a herd of Mule deer we encountered along the path on the way to spectacular views from the rim.
Remnants of hurricane Polo chased us off the rim Sunday afternoon. We woke up to a wet world on Monday and headed to Cameron for a hot breakfast and yarn.
Heading down a forest service road, this is as far as we got before turning around and riding to Tusyan Museum and Ruins. Sue continued on toward Comanche Point.
Ellen was fresh off her annual knee injection and it felt better to ride for a couple of days rather than walk.
The Tusyan Museum on the East rim was closed but access to the Heritage Sites were open. Above is a kiva, below are rooms. Below that are storage spaces.
Inside Desert View Tower, which we have seen from the river on past trips.
Cameron
On the way home Monday we stopped at the Cameron Trading Post for a delicious breakfast and walk through the gardens. And to purchase some yarn.
Hurricane Polo
The dark clouds we encountered on the way home. The rains lasted for four days and we got over three inches of rain in Kachina Village.
